Navigating the different windows couldn't be easier, and I haven't been confused about anything in it. I had a few problems with Sonar 8.5 which is why I was so hesitant to upgrade to the other versions that were released throughout the years. It instantly recognized that I had plugins and projects in Sonar 8.5 before it, and carried them all over to the new Sonar X3 formats for me. After getting it installed, setup was easy.

You have the option of purchasing physical copies of the disk, so if you are worried about the download that may be a better option for you. It seems there is a sort of online signature that happens with your download and if it times out on one of the parts, the other parts will not recognize it. My download was happening over 15mbps internet and it took me two tries before I had it successfully downloaded. So, in SONAR, if you are using a synth and desiring multiple sounds from it, and on multiple tracks and not just one stereo one, you would definitely choose "Each Channel Stereo Out" rather than "Simple Instrument Track," and you would then set the outputs for the midi channels created in that process to the proper corresponding midi channels in the SoftSynth. But in a synth like the TTS-1, you can simply use multiple midi tracks to control its 16 different output channels (although don't really use the TTS-1 anymore, so don't recall if it allows for 16 truly separate outputs, orf only 4, with the possibilty to group 16 sounds into those four outputs). In the case of something like the latter, you have to use multiple instances of the same synth to handle multiple sounds. Other synths, like Cakewalk Sound Center, can not do that, and will only output to a single stereo or mono channel. With AD2, for instance, each instrument can be routed to its own output, and accordlinly, its own track in a DAW. Something like Addictive Drums 2 is a good way to understand the difference. There are two types of synths in the world. When you say multiple tracks, do you mean like having session drummer's instruments each recorded/captured/run through a different track in SONAR, or do you mean getting different sounds from a softsynth at the same time, and to different tracks?
